Structure of the Settlement

Settlement's Design

The settelment's design is one of the grounds in order to establish life outside of Earth. In the process of designing our settlement we consider multiple option and the effects each shape has on the activity witihn the settelment. For a better understading of our decision regarding the shape of Toivo we described every component of it.


The Components of the Settlement

The Central Cylinder

The center cylinder will provied the based of the settelment , the component that sustain the other components. Besides that it will have an important role in transportation.

 The central sphere serve as a place for storage and microgravity activities.

Their main role is to conect the tori (that will be constructed later) with the center cylinder. Besides that they will serve as a storage place.




The Docking Stations

We will have two of them , one at each end of the center cylinder. They will serve as a place for sustaining monitoring activities. Their other role will be to deposit the origami solar panels in case of an emergency.






The Spokes

The spokes main role will be to make internal transport possible. We will have a total of 32 spokes.

This is the place where our inhabitans will spend most of their time. It will be provied with artificial gravity with the help of rotation.

The Bubbles

We will have 16 bubbles. They will be placed symetrically above and under the central sphere . They present a big advantage when we talk about impact protection. When a bubble is hit is going to be deateach in order to don't harm other components of the settelment.
